THE CHILDREN’S MEDIA CONFERENCE![]()
June 30th - July 2nd 2010
Location: Showroom Cinemas Sheffield
The Children’s Media Conference is the successor to Showcomotion, the event which gave birth to the Save Kids’ TV Campaign in 2006. As always the Conference will be a focus for debate around the future of children’s media, and the theme this year is “New decade, new challenges. How can children’s media make a positive impact on UK kids’ lives?” The organisers are keeping a close eye on the outcome of the General Election as they plan to quiz the incoming broadcasting minster on their plans for kids’ content and its funding.
THE CITIZENS COALITION FOR PUBLIC SERVICE BROADCASTING ![]()
CCPSB launched its campaign to defend public service media in March 2010. The campaign aims to halt the decline in public service content and programming by raising awareness among MPs, Prospective Parliamentary Candidates and other decision makers about the decline in original content for a range of groups in society – including children – and the threat this poses to civil society.
The crisis in Children’s provision was once called “the canary in the coalmine” for the decline of all commercial public service broadcasting in this country. CCPSB has recognised this and is now broadening the campaign to stem the tide.
Save Kids’ TV urges all of its members to find out how they can get involved by visiting the CCPSB website
