I’ve always considered it a rare privilege to have the opportunity to write for children. To be given the responsibility of helping forge those shared cultural touchstones is an honour unlike any other. I hope that I’ve helped to inspire audiences, much as my imagination was fuelled by the likes of Rentaghost, Swap Shop and Grange Hill. It is my sincere wish that British TV continues to speak to our children for generations to come.

Paul Rose was nominated for a BAFTA for his writing on My Parents Are Aliens. He is currently developing sitcoms for BBC1 and Channel 4.
