
After studying Drama at Stratford-upon-Avon, Anthony joined BBC Television’s Programme Planning in 1977, later working on transmission scheduling in BBC TV Presentation. In 1980, he moved to the world of international distribution at BBC Enterprises. After 9 years of licensing and co-producing programmes around the globe, he defected from the BBC to ITV and became Head of Programme Sales at CTE (Central Television Enterprises), which some years later became Carlton International Media. Anthony was also a member of the Board of Filmfair, the much-respected animation studio originally formed by Graham Clutterbuck.
Anthony spent a decade in ITV, the last year of which he was appointed Head of Acquisition and Programme Development for Carlton, before moving back to the BBC in 1999 to become Director of Television Distribution in which he oversaw and developed the relationship between BBC Worldwide’s International Film & Television division and BBC Television Production. He was also responsible for BBC Worldwide’s presence, design, marketing and major programme launches at the international programme markets (MIP, MIPCOM, BBC Showcase, etc), as well investment into BBC programming across all genres in return for distribution rights.
In 2005 Anthony was appointed Managing Director of Cosgrove Hall Films, the iconic animation studio formed in 1976 by Brian Cosgrove and Mark Hall.
,In 2009 Anthony was appointed Managing Director of LiveFrame Studios – a new 3D computer animation studio in Manchester. More recently he has been working as a consultant for the media and distribution industry
Anthony is a member of BAFTA and The Royal Television Society and is passionate about the urgent need to provide high quality indigenous children’s programming for younger audiences and is committed to the admirable aims of Save Kids’ TV.
