Katy Jones‘Television is still the most powerful means of communicating with children and young people, and it can have a significant role in shaping young lives. It is vital that we take children’s tv seriously, fund it properly, and regard it as an investment in our children’s futures’

Katy Jones started her television career in the children’s department of Granada Television in the late 80s, and worked on a variety of programmes before a five-year spell on World in Action, where she became a Senior Producer, specialising in issues affecting children and young people. Over the last 10 years, Katy has produced a series of award-winning dramas and drama documentaries.

She won a BAFTA as Factual Producer on Jimmy McGovern’s Hillsborough, and played similar roles on the Prix Italia-winning (Bloody) Sunday, Simon Beaufoy’s acclaimed feature film Yasmin, and the 2008 Bafta award-winning drama The Mark of Cain.

In recent years, Katy has become increasingly interested in education – both as a mother of two, and as a governor at one of the largest primary schools in the North West. In 2004, she set up Child’s Eye Media, a company specialising in making quality documentaries and factual programmes for children – which have won a clutch of awards and numerous endorsements in the education sector.
